GLOBAL LEADER IN THE FIELD OF VARIABLE POWER OPTICS FOR EYEWEAR

ABOUT US

Adlens is a global leader in the field of variable power optics for eyewear.

Our technology has been utilised in over two million pairs of glasses sold around the world.

Our latest advances are targeted at full-autofocus “smart” eyewear, virtual reality and augmented reality headsets.

Global VR/AR market will reach in 2020 respectively.

%

of population with age-related near-vision loss, impacting immersive effect of VR/AR

The market is expected to grow 10x by 2020 (IDC) to over $140bn, across augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Technological advancement continues to proceed at a rapid pace in terms of size, weight, screen resolution and processing power.

For glasses wearers, extended use of VR/AR headsets remains uncomfortable. These advancements have also exposed current limitations in the use of fixed focus lenses, (as employed in all VR/AR products to date) affecting all users.

THE FIXED LENS SOLUTION

All mainstream solutions use fixed-focus lenses that sit between the user’s eyes and the display screen (VR) or transparent display(AR). These lenses magnify the display, which would otherwise be too close to see. Images appear to be at a fixed focal distance of around 1.5 meters.

This is a long-established technique with roots going back many years. It works but creates significant issues in terms of comfort and immersion, that affect everyone to some degree and make VR/AR unusable for many.

Adlens’ variable power optics technology addresses three major problems associated with today’s use of fixed lenses in AR/VR.
